Robert TedescoVice President and General Manager A/NZ, Global Merchant Services, American Express

    Robert joined American Express in December 2000. Prior to this, Robert was part of the management traineeship program with a division of BTR plc, a large British diversified manufacturing company, which he joined directly from university.
    Robert’s first role at Amex was with American Express Consulting, where he helped clients implement innovative solutions, particularly in air and hotel procurement. Robert was promoted to lead the American Express Consulting team in Asia Pacific in 2004 after receiving the American Express President’s Club Award in 2002 and 2003.
    In July 2006, Robert moved to Singapore to take up the role of Head of Account Development ASEAN in the Global Commercial Card group, where he led a team responsible for managing Commercial Card accounts in Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
    In March 2009, Robert was promoted to the position of Vice President in the Business Travel group. Over the next 4 years, he assumed additional responsibilities for the Advisory Services Group and Multi-National Sales. In June 2013, Robert was appointed to Global Head of the Mining and Energy team within the newly created Global Client Group, and helped secure significant new business.
    In October 2015, Robert accepted a position as Vice President, Global Client Group in the Merchant Services organization and helped secure long-term deals with some of our largest partners. In July 2018, Robert moved into the Consumer Services business to head up Loyalty & Partnerships, and in June 2019, Robert was promoted to Head up the Merchant Services business in Australia and New Zealand, a role he remains in today.
    Robert holds a Bachelor of Economics/Accounting degree from the University of Sydney and has an MBA with Honors fromthe University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
