Thursday 29 August, 2019 – Summit

DAY ONE of the COSBOA National Small Business Summit began with the ‘Regulators’ Supersession, chaired by Kate Carnell.  Following the session Jos de Bruin and Sandy Chong from the COSBOA Board led a discussion on ‘What Role Can Associations Provide’ which focused on driving awareness to the untapped value of Industry associations. Afterwards, delegate took a break to have lunch in the exhibition area, giving them a chance visit the trade booths and the COSBOA Small Business Lounge. The program continued into the afternoon with a session on ‘Technology & Comms’  chaired by Robert Tedesco from AMEX. The program then wrapped up with a 2-part session on ‘Emerging Issues’ led by Dominic Schipano, which covered training and what it means to be a small business contractor.

Thursday 29 August, 2019 – Gala Dinner

The NSBS19 SUMMIT DINNER took place on the evening of the 29th, and begain with pre-dinner drinks in the exhibition area with an address from Peter Strong in the COSBOA Small Business Lounge. Guests then proceeded to a 3-course plated dinner with entertainment by the talented MC, Greg Ward.  The evening included address from The Hon. Steve Irons (Assistant Minister for Vocational Education, Training and Apprenticeships) on Workplace Relations and Small Business.

Friday 30 August, 2019 – Summit

DAY TWO kicked off with a presentation on ‘Energy, Taxation Processes and Ever Changing Policy’ by the Hon. Angus Taylor MP and Rt. Hon. Sir Bill English. Following was ‘Tools and Resources for Small Business’ led by Elizabeth Skirving and Colm Maguire, and ‘Wellbeing and Small Business’ with Christine Pope. After lunch in the exhibition area and further networking opportunites, the afternoon sessions began with ‘Future of Small Business – Stop Talking and Do Something’ which included surveys of the Australian Youth from Junkee Media and insights from the Future Female Entrepreneurs COSBOA program. Closing off the Summit was ‘Seeking Growth Within a Digital Economy’ with Megan Brownlow from Google sharing insights on how small businesses can grow in this day and age.
