The COSBOA National Small Business Summit 2023, brought together key political and industry leaders to examine, discuss and workshop what small businesses need now and anticipate what they might need in the future. DAY ONE of the COSBOA National Small Business Summit began with an update from Lisa Belcher, American Express and Grant Cairns, Commonwealth Bank; an opening address from The Hon. Natalie Suleyman, Victorian Minister for Small Business; and finally, a speech from the Hon. Peter Dutton MP, Leader of the Federal Parliamentary Liberal Party. The NSBS23 SUMMIT DINNER took place on the evening of the 4th April, and began with pre-dinner drinks in the exhibition area. Guests then proceeded to a 3-course plated dinner with entertainment by the talented MC, Greg Ward. The evening included a special panel including the Small Business Commissioners from VIC, QLD, WA and hosted by Bruce Billson, ASBFEO. Finally, the COSBOA Small Business Champion 2023 was awarded to Sandy Chong, CEO of the Australia Hairdressing Council. Find out more.
DAY TWO kicked off with a fireside chat on ‘Insolvency’ with Tim Beresford from AFSA. Following was the panel session ‘Industrial Relations Reform – Understanding the Impact for Small Business’ led by Jos De Bruin, and ‘Cyber Security – Prevention, Policy & Recovery’. After lunch in the exhibition area and further networking opportunities, the afternoon sessions began with a focus on ‘Thriving in a Competitive Economy’ and ‘VET & SKILLS – Workforce Planning’. Closing off the Summit were speakers Lynda McAlary-Smith, VIC Small Business Commissioner and Bruce Billson, Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman. Read more
